Alternative Format Ballot
Voters with disabilities can request an Alternative Format Ballot (AFB). The alternative format ballot is a voting tool that allows voters with disabilities who are unable to mark a printed ballot to vote privately and independently at home. Oregon voters needing assistance can use a screen reader or other assistive technology to access their ballot at home using Oregon's online ballot-marking tool. Using the alternative format ballot requires voters to have or have access to a computer with a web browser and printer.
Large Print Ballot
Voters who are sight impaired may request a large print ballot to be mailed to them.
Assistance in Voting ORS 254.445 and Oregon Voter-by-Mail Manual (Pg 27)
You can request and receive help form any trusted person, friend, or family member. Under Oregon law you cannot receive help from your employer, an agent of the employer, or a union officer or agent of a union of which you are a member.
Upon request from an elector, there are various locations where election personnel may provide assistance. This includes: the voter's home, any elections office, drop site location, community service center, senior center or assisted living facility. The Yamhill County Clerk's office is ADA accessible and has on-site ADA voting booths available in the lobby. If for any reason you need assistance, please call the Oregon Voters toll free information line at 866-673-8683/TTY 800-735-2900 for hearing impaired or reach out to the Yamhill County Clerk's office at (503)434-7518. Please provide advanced notice as much as possible.
Difficulty in Signing
If an elector has difficulty signing their ballot, on either a temporary or permanent basis, they have the option of completing an updated voter registration card and a signature attestation form. This allows a signature stamp or other indicator used by the voter to represent the voter's signature on any election document. This must be consistent on all election documents moving forward. Any changes require completion of a new attestation form and voter registration card.
Oregon law does not permit a spouse, caretaker, or someone with a power of attorney to sign or vote on behalf of a voter. The voter must be able to convey their choices to the person(s) assisting and the voter has to be able to make their own signature mark.
Please contact the Yamhill County Clerk's Office at (503)434-7518 to request assistance in voting or to request an alternative format or large print ballot.
