Property Value Appeals Board Members

The Yamhill County PVAB (Property Value Appeals Board) are local community members. All members of the PVAB (both regular and alternates) are appointed by the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners and consist of residents of the county who are not employees or members of a governing body of the county or of any taxing district within the county.

The PVAB impartially compares evidence presented by property owners against evidence presented by the Assessor's office. The Board does that in a thoughtful and respectful approach where property owners and the Assessor's office directly address the Board.

The best candidates are often those who:

  • Have a working knowledge of the local real estate market, both residential and commercial.
  • Are willing to participate in public hearings, can quickly review documentation while listening to the public and can make reasonable decisions with the affected parties in attendance.
  • Have mediation skills, real estate appraisal, financing or related backgrounds.
  • Are familiar with Oregon property taxes.

PVAB members receive a per diem rate of $45 per day. The Oregon Department of Revenue provides mandatory training sessions that are held prior to the hearing process. Each member serves a two-year term expiring on June 30th.

If you are interested in serving as a PVAB member, you may complete the PVAB Application (PDF) and we will contact you for an interview. Return a completed application to:
