County Road 401
SOURGRASS ROAD - dated prior to 1897, an official acceptance has not been located. Possibly a territorial road, 60 feet in width. C.S. located fences 40 feet apart paralleing this road, but that is not conclusive evidence of actual width. More research may eventually disclose additional history on this. Lies three miles west of Grand Ronde Agency on the south side of Highway 22. The road was, previously, known as Midway Road. It extended over the Pacific Coast Range as a toll route in the 1800's. The name is derived from a nearby creek of the same name.
