Clean Up The Mountain Shop with a Sheriff YCSO Around the County

5th Annual Clean Up The Mountain Event Success

(Posted June 26, 2019)

The Clean Up the Mountain event, which was held Saturday, June 22, 2019, was a huge success. Hats off to all the volunteers who assisted, and to SOLVE, BLM Oregon & Washington, Weyerhaeuser, Applegate Rough Riders Motorcycle Club, Yamhill County Search And Rescue, Yamhill County Cadet Unit, YCSO Inmate Work Crew, and Yamhill County Juvenile Department for partnering in this event.
Special thanks to Sgt.Todd Whitlow for spearheading this years’ efforts. He reports that an entire 40 cubic yard dumpster was filled. Volunteers recovered tires, hypodermic needles, and various household and commercial construction debris.
Thanks from all of us who use the woods for our enjoyment. Please remember to report litterers and help us keep the forests clean so we can continue to experience the outdoors for generations to come.

Shop with a Sheriff

(Updated November 18, 2020)

It is with great regret that Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office has decided to cancel our 2020 Shop with a Sheriff event. The annual tradition that brings County law enforcement agencies together with children from County schools won't be happening this Christmas due to COVID-19. While we will happily accept donations towards next year’s event, we encourage you to donate towards other charities that may assist families during the holiday period, especially during this time of greater need. We look forward to joining with our local school districts next year for another fun filled evening of shopping, laughter, and fun.

Shop with a Sheriff

(November 4, 2019)

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce our Fourth Annual Shop with a Sheriff, our 2019 holiday initiative. In 2016, Sheriff Svenson refocused the annual Toys for Kids Program campaign in order to increase the personal interaction between local school children and your Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office organization. He believes that positive one-on-one interactions between the children of Yamhill County and his staff will have a significant impact in enriching relationships between the Sheriff’s Office, businesses, and the community that extend beyond the holiday season.

“As members of the community ourselves, we know there are needs that we can’t always address in the normal course of business, as much as we would like to. The Shop with a Sheriff program will give us the chance to focus on the connection with community members in an enjoyable way. I mean, who doesn’t like shopping for presents? It’s fun!” -- Sheriff Svenson.

Uniformed officers and support staff from Yamhill County Sheriff's Office and neighboring agencies have volunteered their time to take participating children from Yamhill County holiday shopping. The Sheriff’s Office has sought the assistance of county school districts to identify recipients.  For more information, please contact Emily Williams (503/474-6289 or
