Clean Up The Mountain Shop with a Sheriff YCSO Around the County

5th Annual Clean Up The Mountain Event Success

(Posted June 26, 2019)

The Clean Up the Mountain event, which was held Saturday, June 22, 2019, was a huge success. Hats off to all the volunteers who assisted, and to SOLVE, BLM Oregon & Washington, Weyerhaeuser, Applegate Rough Riders Motorcycle Club, Yamhill County Search And Rescue, Yamhill County Cadet Unit, YCSO Inmate Work Crew, and Yamhill County Juvenile Department for partnering in this event.

Special thanks to Sgt.Todd Whitlow for spearheading this years’ efforts. He reports that an entire 40 cubic yard dumpster was filled. Volunteers recovered tires, hypodermic needles, and various household and commercial construction debris.

Thanks from all of us who use the woods for our enjoyment. Please remember to report litterers and help us keep the forests clean so we can continue to experience the outdoors for generations to come.

2021 Shop With A Sheriff

(Updated October 28, 2021)

It is with great joy that Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office announces that we've figured out a way to make a COVID-friendly Shop with a Sheriff event happen in 2021! Sheriff Svenson has determined that, while we will hold the event this year, it will not be our standard Sunday night shopping event.

Instead, we are excited to introduce an alternative approach that we believe will still help our most vulnerable children and their families. For 2021, we will be identifying families through the local schools, as has been our past practice. Those families will get a personal visit from YCSO staff/volunteers or members of fellow agencies to deliver a gift card packet. The intention of these gift cards is to help offset the family’s usual expenses so that they can purchase gifts. The total amount of the gift cards will be the $100 that the Shop with a Sheriff usually is. The delivery date and time will be coordinated in advance to ensure that families are home and available to receive the gift cards.

How you can help!

Individuals and businesses who would like the opportunity to get involved can reach out to [email protected] to be connected with our SWAS Donation Coordinator. Given the change in approach this year, the best way to get involved is through either an in-kind gift (as gift cards that can be used at your local business) or a tax-deductible monetary donation.

We have adjusted our levels of giving due to our modified approach but appreciate any level of participation; there is no minimum donation required. Our Patron-levels sponsors will be recognized in our media communications regarding the program, on our social media pages, and here on the Sheriff’s Office website. The levels are:

  • Deputy Patron – Sponsorship of half of a child’s gift card packet ($50)
  • Sergeant Patron – Sponsorship of a child’s gift card packet ($100)
  • Captain Patron – Sponsorship of one and a half children’s gift card packet ($150)
  • Sheriff Patron – Sponsorship of two or more children’s gift card packet ($200+)
