It is with regret that Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office announces the cancellation of the 2020 Citizens’ Academy. But we plan to be back in Spring 2021, so keep an eye on this page!

Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office invites you to participate in our 2020 Citizens’ Academy! We believe it is an important part of our mission to provide citizens with information about our cooperative partnerships within our community and how we approach our commitment to problem-oriented policing. It is our intention to provide our citizens with a comprehensive program that can assist with promoting understanding between the community we serve and our office through education and interaction. The Citizens’ Academy serves as an opportunity to meet Sheriff’s Office employees and to better understand the role we play in the Yamhill County community.
Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office offers a nine-week Citizens' Academy open to any qualified and interested Yamhill County citizen. The Citizens' Academy will be held weekly over the course of nine weeks. The class, which will be held at the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office in McMinnville, will run from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm each week. Each session will cover different topics and information, which will include:
Instructors during the course will include deputies, supervisors, and members of the Sheriff's Office Command Team, who will explain and demonstrate the duties of their positions. We encourage questions and comments throughout the course.
Due to the topics covered and the limited instructional space, the following eligibility requirements apply:
If you are interested in serving on the Citizens' Advisory Board, please be sure to complete the third page of the application form - Citizens' Advisory Board Submission of Interest - in it's entirety. Those who serve on the Board must attend all nine sessions of the Citizens' Academy as part of their service on the Board. More information about the Citizens' Advisory Board can be found here.
We will begin accepting applications once a date has been determined.
