Family Planning

The Family Planning Program provides free or low cost reproductive health, birth control, STI testing, outreach and education services in order to promote sexual health, well-being, and to reduce unintended pregnancy. Services are, by law, confidential for all persons.

Many of the services offered by Public Health are on a sliding-fee scale based on ability to pay. No one is refused basic service due to inability to pay. Some services are offered without charge and some services are discounted. All services are confidential.

Available Services
Services are provided by a nurse or a nurse practitioner at the clinic:

  • Annual gynecological checkups (Pap smears, breast and pelvic exams.)
  • Contraceptive services and supplies (birth control pills, patches, condoms, etc.)
  • Emergency contraceptive/morning after pills
  • Testing of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for men and women
  • Pregnancy testing and pregnancy counseling
  • Birth control counseling and instructions
  • Information and counseling for options for pregnant women available upon request
  • Health education, including breast self-exam and testicular self-exam instruction

Other Available Services Provided At Public Health:

  • HIV testing
  • Treatment of STIs for men and women
  • Services not covered by FPEP may be covered through private insurance or sliding-fee scale
