Volunteers/Practicum Information
YCJD utilizes the services of volunteers to augment and expand detention
programs. Currently, YCJD utilizes the services of two religious
volunteers who offer spiritual teaching and counseling. Also volunteering
is a McMinnville police officer that has created a program that helps
youth identify and develop healthy relationships. A volunteer from
the Yamhill County Health Department facilitates a weekly group with
the youth regarding HIV/AIDS issues. YCJD also provides volunteer
time to the Solutions Motorcycle Club who lead a AA/NA group twice
per month and Yamhill County Mediation conduct bi-monthly groups
on mediation and conflict resolution as well as follow-up
mediation to detained youth and their families.
In addition, YCJF has also developed an important relationship with
different educational programs in the community. This includes a
Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) and Practicum program through Chemeketa
Community College and Western Oregon Universities respectively.
YCJD also participates in Linfield College’s annual volunteer fair.
