Notice of Voter Registration Deadline
And Special Primary Election
The Yamhill County Clerk would like to encourage the media to remind citizens that the last day to register to vote or change party in the November 8, Special Primary Election, is Tuesday, October 18.
November 8, 2011 a Special Primary Election will be held to fill the First Congressional District seat left empty when Congressman Wu resigned. All of Yamhill County is in the First Congressional District and as this is a Special Primary Election, voters registered either as Democrat or Republican will receive a ballot. The City of Newberg has a measure on the ballot and is the only area where voters who are neither Democrat nor Republican will receive a ballot.

The county clerk is a nonpartisan elected official as provided in the Oregon Constitution and serves a term of four years.
The duties of the office include:
- The official keeper of all public records for the county;
- The recorder of land records and liens;
- The clerk of the Board of Commissioners;
- The clerk to the Board of Property Tax Appeals;
- Issuer of marriage licenses;
- Performs civil marriage ceremonies;
- Issuer of county business licenses;
- United States Passport acceptance officer;
- Chief election officer of the county.
