FROM THE OFFICE OF MAYOR FOR THE CITY OF CARLTON
|
QUESTION: Shall Kathie Oriet be recalled from the
office of Mayor for the City of Carlton? |
STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR DEMANDING RECALL:
In our opinion Kathie Oriet, Mayor of Carlton should be removed from her elected position for failure to maintain and protect the resources of the City of Carlton. She has excluded the council members of their decision making duties by not giving the members enough information to make educated and informed decisions for the good of the City.
Kathie Oriet, knowingly by
commission or omission:
1). Has created an environment at City Hall where the voice and will of the people has been ignored.
2). Under guidance by Mayor Kathie Oriet, the City council did not
fully investigate the qualifications of employees hired during her tenure.
3). Has shown fiscal irresponsibility by not utilizing her city
council and business experience to guide and inform inexperienced council
members through City contracts, lawsuits and property management.
4). Has not utilized her City council experience to inform and help
with the transition of City managers and senior employees in developing working
relationships and retention programs for key personnel.
In our opinion Kathie Oriet
has not proven herself as a leader. We feel that she is incapable of leading
the City of Carlton through the next phases of growth and repair of our
infrastructure.
STATEMENT OF JUSTIFICATION OF COURSE IN
OFFICE:
The recall committee has made allegations against me. NONE of these allegations are true.
ü
All council packets are prepared by staff at city
hall, not the Mayor. I have
ALWAYS asked for input from the council on every single decision that has been made since I became Mayor.
ü
I have NEVER told any person attending a council meeting
that they cannot speak to us.
ü
It is NOT the job of the Mayor to guide the council
through city contracts, lawsuits, etc.
That is what we pay an attorney for.
ü
Carlton is a small town, we cannot afford to pay
our employees as much as they can make in larger municipalities. We have ALWAYS been a stepping stone for
employees that want to advance their careers.
ü
I AM working to repair Carlton’s aging
infrastructure, applying for grants and low interest loans to avoid raising
taxes.
You are welcome at council
meetings; please ask questions, don’t believe rumors.
I have donated 28 years
of my life serving Carlton, because I love Carlton. I represent Carlton at many county and regional meetings, all on
my personal time. I respectfully ask
that you vote NO on this recall election.
Thank you for your support.
