Commission on Children & Families Overview
The Commission on Children and Families' legislative mandate is to assist government, service providers, non-profits, communities and families in working together to help families become healthier and more self-sufficient. The 19 community volunteers appointed by the Board of Commissioners and staff are responsible for the four main functions of the Commission on Children and Families.
- Comprehensive planning for the promotion of a coordinated system of supports and services that improve outcomes for children and families;
- Community Mobilization to increase community awareness and facilitate the active participation of citizens and organizations to positively impact the well-being of children, families and communities;
- Use of locally invested funds to provide services, partnerships and collaborative efforts to assist in the development of this coordinated system of supports; and
- Ensure accountability and effectiveness through an evaluative system of best practices, measurable goals and outcomes, quarterly financial and program reporting.
In addition, the Yamhill County Commission manages state and federal grant funds that come to Yamhill County through the State Commission on Children and Families.
