DESCRIPTION:
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides caring and optimistic peer support services as part of a Community Mental Health Program. Works with multi-disciplinary teams, the PSS assists individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their mental health, developing skills that promote recovery and advocacy. Responsibilities include: using life experience to provide support to individuals, assisting in utilizing recovery skills, providing linkage with local peer organizations, and identifying strengths to achieve individual goals.
The position requires PSS certification from a State-approved program or ability to obtain certification within 2 months of hire; high school diploma or GED. Must be a self-identified current or former recipient of mental health services who embraces the philosophy of resilience and recovery, and be a role model for persons receiving mental health services. Have personal experience and knowledge of recovery. Requires good written and verbal communication skills, and general keyboarding and computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must have a driver’s license valid in Oregon. A criminal background check is required, but may not be cause for disqualification.

This fulltime position will coordinate the Public Health Accreditation, implement a Performance Management System, and work with other health promotion and prevention-related program activities. The position requires at minimum a bachelor’s degree in health education from a formal program. A master’s degree in public health is preferred. This is a progressive program with an opportunity to participate in an emerging integrated care team. Responsibilities include serving a broad-based adult population with behavioral health issues, providing medical oversight, psychiatric consultation, evaluation, medication management and limited psychotherapy. These programs provide an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization for individuals with serious & persistent mental illness and co-occurring medical conditions. Work is performed on-site and in the community supporting residents who demonstrate challenging behaviors and psychiatric symptoms. Schedule includes evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities include implementing individual service & support plans and behavioral support strategies, facilitating group activities (focusing on socialization, skills training, recreation, physical health and fitness, and spiritual expression), providing individual services & skills training (including assistance with money management, establishing positive community contacts, nutritional education, and safety awareness), and documenting services provided.

Mental Health Therapist, Certified as Qualified Mental Health Professional (Job # MH-55 )

Fulltime position, Tuesday through Saturday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
DUTIES:
This Behavioral Health Community Outreach position provides proactive engagement of individuals at risk in the community, including outreach services with law enforcement and, at times, support to local primary care provider (PCP) offices. Primary responsibilities are to work with local law enforcement agencies providing crises intervention and client engagement based on the Sequential Intercept Model. This can include travel with law enforcement to targeted individual’s home or to PCP offices to engage individuals who have mental illness with substance abuse disorders. It includes providing direct treatment services, crises intervention, mental health & substance use assessment, service planning and implementation, case management and collaborative service documentation. Will provide service to a broad-based population with complex needs in a recovery-oriented system of care. Duties may include collection of UAs.
The position requires close collaboration and partnership with local law enforcement agencies and primary care providers; working knowledge and techniques of community mental health; ability to understand the behavior of people under stress; to coordinate services and develop and maintain cooperative relationships with clients, their families, physicians, law enforcement, courts, public and private administrators & agencies, and the community. Must possess ability to interpret community mental health and chemical dependency services; prepare concise and thorough client treatment and progress records. Must be a self-starter, team-oriented, dependable, organized, and computer literate.
Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness as well as trauma and substance use is critical. Prefer training and experience in evidence-based practices and dual credentials with master’s degree in behavioral health field & CADC. LCSW, and bilingual fluency in Spanish & English also preferred, but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation. May be required to drive a County vehicle to transport clients. Youth Program Volunteer Mentors (JOB# mh-vol)

Yamhill County Family and Youth Program is initiating a mentor program to work with children receiving mental health care. Adult mentors are currently needed to work with youth between the ages of 5 and 18 on a volunteer basis. Mentors will be matched with mentees based on the interests and comfort of the mentor to ensure a positive experience for both the mentor and the child.
A background check and screening process for interested individuals is required. Training and the support of professional staff will be provided on an ongoing basis. Mentors will receive some minimal compensation to help cover expenses such as food and fuel. Mentors will be expected to spend a minimum of one hour per week with their mentee for a minimum of one year. Mentors will become an integrated part of our treatment team focused on the strengths of each child and is aimed at their success in school, home and the community.

The QMHA will provide short-term intensive (4-6 hours/week) services to families in which children are at risk of out of home placement due to significant mental health needs.
